A year marked by modernisation, expansion, and reopenings for Delhaize Luxembourg

With the reopening of the Shop & Go in Schouweiler, Delhaize Luxembourg closes a particularly busy year in terms of investments and transformations. In total, 16 projects were completed, ranging from remodellings to uplifts and new openings. The retailer now counts 65 stores in the country and displays a clear strategy: strengthening proximity retail, modernising its facilities, and meeting new expectations for sustainable and convenient consumption.

Beyond the most recent reopening, several stores underwent a complete remodelling this year. Among those renovated were Delhaize Pommerloch, Proxy Bourse, Proxy Esch III, Shop & Go Eich, Shop & Go Vianden, Shop & Go Wincrange, Shop & Go Saeul, as well as Shop & Go Schouweiler.

Each renovation helped integrate more sustainable solutions, optimise customer journeys, and improve assortment quality.

The retailer also invested in more targeted yet strategic improvements, notably:

  • Delhaize Junglinster: extended frozen and dairy ranges through new refrigeration units.
  • Delhaize Schengen: reorganised 40% of the surface to optimise flows.
  • Proxy Belair: complete transformation including an apéro corner, a modernised bakery/pastry section, and a wide organic, gluten-free, vegetarian, and kosher assortment.
  • Shop & Go Bettembourg: restructured aisles, created an eating area, and added electric charging stations.

There were also four new openings, strengthening the brand’s presence across the country: Proxy Bourse, Proxy Belair, Shop & Go Berchem East and Shop & Go Berchem West

These new stores focus on a responsive proximity format, optimised assortments, and contemporary consumption spaces.

With its 16 completed projects this year, Delhaize Luxembourg demonstrates a clear commitment: sustainably modernising its store network, improving the in-store experience, and integrating energy and operational solutions adapted to today’s retail challenges.

And let’s not forget that 2026 will also bring new projects, notably in Differdange and in the GridX commercial complex.

The brand thus reinforces its ambition to remain a key player in retail in Luxembourg.
