Colruyt Group temporarily switches to biodiesel
Colruyt Group is advancing its goal of achieving zero-emission goods transport by 2030 for its own fleet and by 2035 for all transport related to its operations. To reach this, the company relies mainly on battery-electric and hydrogen trucks. Twenty electric trucks have recently been purchased, two hydrogen trucks are already in use, and two more are being tested under the European innovation project H2Haul.
In the meantime, Colruyt is introducing HVO100 biodiesel as a transitional solution for its diesel-powered trucks. This fuel, made entirely from biomass and free of fossil components, emits significantly less CO₂ than traditional diesel. Initially, HVO100 will be used for about fifteen trucks and four hundred vans. Two dedicated pumps, managed by partner DATS 24, have been installed in Hal and Ollignies.
Colruyt states that this decision was made after consulting experts and complying with environmental regulations. The goal is to quickly reduce emissions while preparing for a full shift to green electricity and hydrogen.
