Delhaize is on the offensive

Delhaize has taken another major step in the development of its e-commerce activity with the official opening of a brand-new, state-of-the-art distribution centre in Forest. This site doubles the retailer’s online order processing capacity from 25,000 to 50,000 orders per week, and complements the existing infrastructure in Puurs, Ghent, and Liège.

The project aims to improve product availability, shorten delivery times, and offer even fresher products, especially for customers in the Brussels area. It’s also part of a strengthened omnichannel strategy: 80% of online customers still visit their physical store when using the click-and-collect service.

This €53 million investment will also create nearly 400 jobs. Built on the former Lipton site, the building meets some of the highest environmental standards: recycled demolition materials, heat pumps, solar panels, rainwater recovery, low-carbon logistics, and deliveries by electric vehicles.

At Delhaize, the teams are proud to have reached this new milestone. For CEO Xavier Piesvaux, the message is clear: “We have always been at the forefront of grocery delivery, and this centre is further proof of our commitment to providing our customers with a fast, high-quality, and sustainable service. Customers combine their online shopping with the in-store experience. This hybrid approach helps us attract new shoppers—especially younger generations and families—and boost their loyalty to Delhaize, whether in-store or online.
