Three Intense Days at Saveurs et Métiers 2025
Saveurs et Métiers set up shop in Namur from February 2 to 4, and let’s be clear: the event lived up to expectations! With increased attendance and fully booked conferences, the atmosphere was dynamic, the exchanges enriching, and industry trends well highlighted. Here’s a recap of this event, which 20/CENT Retailparticipated in intensively for three days, along with the key takeaways.
Conferences draw a crowd
I had the chance to get hands-on by organizing and moderating several conferences, and one thing is certain: the audience was engaged! The rooms were packed, and there was constant interaction between experts and visitors. This proves that the event successfully attracted a well-targeted and genuinely interested audience.
Among the standout speakers, two particularly stood out. Anastasia Vanherrewegen, Category Manager Drinks at Delhaize, provided an overview of key market trends. Her observations? The rise of plant-based products, protein- and vitamin-enriched items, and the growing popularity of alcohol-free beverages. She also highlighted the increasing consumer interest in sustainable food and the "sharing dinner" concept, both of which align with modern expectations.
Another key moment was when Bertrand Moreau, Group Manager Butchery at Carrefour Belgium, took the stage to discuss commitment and quality in the meat industry. He addressed crucial topics such as local sourcing, the benefits of having an in-house cutting workshop to ensure consistent quality, and strategies for growing the category. These included promoting lesser-known cuts and adopting more sustainable packaging.
A trade show that showcases expertise
The event was also filled with competitions and demonstrations, including the Croissant d’Or and impressive performances by the Ambassadeurs du Pain. These moments highlighted the skills of artisans and their craftsmanship, with demonstrations that were as impressive as ever.
When it comes to innovation, Saveurs et Métiers may have a more local than international scope, but that doesn’t mean there was nothing new to discover! One innovation caught my attention: beer vinegar. Want to know more? Be sure to check out my podcast dedicated to the best finds from the show.
A digital and connected event
Finally, an important takeaway from the event is how well it leveraged digital tools to enhance the visitor experience. Here are a few key highlights:
- The organizers nailed their communication strategy, using social media effectively and providing a well-crafted newsletter.
- The mobile app was practical and intuitive, making it easy to navigate between booths and conferences.
- The unique smart badge system remains an invaluable tool for collecting contacts without lugging around stacks of brochures.
My 20/CENT: an intense and rewarding experience
For me, these were three days packed with networking, discoveries, and meaningful exchanges. With higher attendance, a strong presence of franchisees, and high-quality conferences, the event was a complete success.
One thing is certain: Saveurs et Métiers remains a must-attend event, and I fully intend to return in two years. Mark your calendars, the next edition will take place from January 31 to February 2, 2027.
