A Taste of Saveurs et Métiers

Saveurs et Métiers is just around the corner, and let me tell you, I’m counting down the days! Over the past few months, I have had the privilege of getting a behind-the-scenes look at how this event is coming together, and I even got to play a part in shaping the conference program.

In this new feature, you are in for a double treat: I’ll share some tips and tricks to help you navigate the show like a pro, highlight the can’t-miss moments, and invite you to tune in to a special podcast episode.

The podcast with Marie Henin

For those who can’t wait, just listen to this special podcast. I sit down with Marie Henin from Easyfairs to give you a sneak peek at this year’s show. We discuss the program, the layout of the show and the special events you can’t miss. (You can listen via the usual platforms or via https://podcast.ausha.co/20-cent-retail-s-podcast/saveurs-et-metiers-kicks-off-the-year-for-the-food-industry)

An efficient professional event

This show stands out for its efficient format, and this year promises to be no exception! Expect over 100 exhibitors showcasing everything from food and local products to POS equipment and wholesalers. On top of that, around 4,000 visitors are expected to walk through the doors over the three days.

A practical and field-oriented program

Obviously, the event will offer highlights and side events.

  • Demos & Contests: Watch the Belgian team of the Mondial du Pain in action or catch the exciting Croissant d’Orcontest. It’s a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds!
  • A Job Day: With workforce shortages causing headaches across the industry, the show is teaming up with the Forem to help job seekers and companies connect. Think of it as speed dating but for jobs!
  • Foodup Incubator: Got an entrepreneurial itch? Foodup will present its 2025 incubator program, designed to help you launch your food business dream.
  • Conferences: Crafted with the help of 20/CENT Retail, the conference lineup is all about actionable insights:
    • Trends of 2025 with insights from industry heavyweights like Delhaize and Carrefour.
    • Local Meat Strategies for maximizing value.
    • Social Media Tips to boost your business presence.
    • And many more!
    • Oh, and don’t miss the Business Club by Apaq-W or the talk about the state and future of organic food by Biowallonie.

Innovation, Digitalization and a few tips

Let’s get practical. The show will take place from 2nd till 4th of February. All days are good to visit. Although, Monday and Tuesday are a bit busier than Sunday.

How to get there? There’s parking right in front of the venue across the AC/DC square (And yes, I expect you to be Thunderstruck at the event). For those who enjoy a more sustainable option, Namur station is just a short 15-minute walk away. (That’s my plan because I don’t plan to bike from Brussels every day).

And let’s talk tech! There is a mobile app for you to prepare your visit and your badge is a digital connector. Your smart badge is a game-changer. No more lugging around business cards or brochures. Just tap your badge at the booths you’re interested in, and voilà! Contacts and booth summaries will land in your mail inbox post-event. It’s paperless, effortless, and downright brilliant.

My 20/CENT

Yes, I’m a bit biased (I helped craft the conference program and some behind-the-scenes communication) but honestly, my opinion was forged over the years. Since its inception, Saveurs et Métiers has been a must-attend event in my book.

While it may not aim to be a massive international show, its regional appeal is undeniable. It draws professionals from across Belgium, northern France, and Luxembourg. The numbers of visitors and exhibitors for its size are impressive, but it’s the efficiency and tools that truly shine. Networking? Check. Conferences? Check. Digital tools to streamline your visit? Double check. Also, as it is still early in the year, you get to already get an idea of what’s to come in retail for the coming months.

In short, Saveurs et Métiers is not just efficient, it is a great event to kick off your year as a food professional.
