Dmexco is one of the must see events at this time of year

Impressive numbers every year

The positioning is clear, dmexco claims to be the ‘global business and innovation platform for the digital economy’. For those who don’t know, Koelnmesse organizes the event while the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft (German Association for the Digital Economy — BVDW) is the owner of the dmexco brand. With special assistance from OVK — Circle of Online Marketers, the BVDW is also the conceptual and professional partner of the trade fair and conference.

The exhibition and the conference are divided in various themes covering the wide spectrum of the digital world.

In a few numbers

In 2016 dmexco knew a record year:

  • 50700 visitors
  • 1013 exhibitors
  • 570 international speakers
  • 250 hours of programa
  • 90000 square meters of exhibition space

And it seems 2017 will be expecting huge crowds again.


My 20/CENT on dmexco

The concept is pretty simple you have an exhibition part and a conference part. And in my opinion, it is definitely worth a visit. I really appreciate the conference program. It is rich in variety, very international and attracts impressive keynotes (usually ceo’s of major players of the digital industry). Any professional of the digital spectrum can find something to learn. Whether you are into digital television, online marketing, e-retail, virtual reality… well if you name it, you can find it on the agenda. My preference usually goes to the Experience hall, so that’s where you’d usually find me (especially this year with live demos and conferences about the internet of things, virtual reality and many more). But the expo area is also very attractive. Many big names of the digital industry are present along with startups.

However, I cannot emphasize enough that planning is key if you want to visit the event. The exhibition space is quite big so travelling between halls requires you to plan carefully to avoid unnecessary travel here and there. And you need to be on time before a session starts, because sometimes certain conferences are so successful that securing a seat could be a challenge.

But what is good to notice is that the website and the smartphone app are clear and user-friendly. So to prepare is usually not difficult. Actually the more difficult aspect is choosing what to see among the enormous amount of interesting topics. What to do and what to see is up to you!
