Let’s have a drink at Interbev 2015
Chicago is the US retail Capital for a few days
Acquired in September 2011 by NürnbergMesse and still enjoying the support of the American Beverage Association, the INTERBEV fair will open its doors from 9th till 11th of June in Chicago. The fair aims to be a reference in the drink industry for North America.
The professional visitors are retail buyers, brokers, distributors and wholesalers, Food Service Providers, Health Food retail buyers, Liquor/Package store owners, Marketing and Sales managers, just to name a few.
Interbev is co-located with other events: FMI Connect (operated by the Food Marketing Institute, expecting 15000 participants from around 75 countries and 900 exhibitors), United Fresh, Sabor Latino Food Show, U.S. Food Showcase and the International Floriculture Expo. With the co-located events, buyers of different categories (e.g. groceries…), retailers and all kinds of store formats should also be represented in the exhibition centre (especially thanks to the FMI event). So Chicago will be the American retail capital for a few days.
In terms of exhibitors, the number is between 50 and 100 (hard to tell as both numbers are communicated and an exhibitor’s list is hard to find). The categories on display are covering the entire beverage industry: soft drinks, water, teas, beer, wine, distilled spirits, juices, juice drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks, organic and functional beverages…
The Beverage bar
As any event of this kind, seminars will be organised and special animations and dedicated areas are foreseen by the organiser.
When it comes to the dedicated spaces, visitors should have a look at the InterBev Beverage Bar. The place is not just suitable to get a drink. Visitors will be able to sample beverages from the different exhibitors and more.
My 20/CENT on Interbev
Well, I need to be honest and say this fair is a discovery for me. Also the show doesn’t seem to present the ‘usual characteristics’ I am used to find. For example via the website and other research it was not so easy to establish the key figures (number of visitors…) or the international aspect (presence of international exhibitors….). So I am a bit out of the usual standards, and a bit more research is necessary on my part. Especially since Interbev Process will take place in September and it is on my editorial planning.
As far as I can tell from the information I gathered, it seems to be an event pretty sale oriented. Furthermore Interbev has the NürnbergMesse stamp, the organization that also delivers Braubeviale and Biofach.
So as an exporting company interested in the US market or even North America, I don’t think you’d be wrong to attend.
