Saveurs et métiers, a new event for small gourmet shops
Namur welcomes gourmet professionals in 2016
In late January 2016, the first edition of the exhibition Saveurs & Métiers will be organized by easyFairs.
The concept is simple: exchange knowledge and ideas on gourmet foods and inspire trade visitors. It is indeed all about knowledge and know-how when it comes to traditional and gourmet professionals. The fair is aimed at players active in the food sector in Wallonia and Brussels.
What can you expect?
On the organization's website, of course the profiles of exhibitors and visitors are presented, with numbers (or shall I rather say goals, since this is a first edition).
- 2500 food professionals: bakers, confectioners, chocolatiers, ice cream makers, butchers, cheese merchants, fishmongers, seafood retailers, caterers, market vendors, grocery...
- Around 100 exhibitors
- Animations, competitions, and seminars: like every food fair, you can expect such activities. What would a fair be without cooking demonstration or conferences? A few names have already been announced: the Federation of Butchers, the Federation of Great Confectioners of Belgium, the UCM to name a few
To ensure a successful launch, the organization has set up a launch committee with a few big names in the sector: Luc Boremans, Vice President and manager APLSIA; Jean-Luc Denis, Managing Director ETS DENIS; Dominique LOUETTE, Sales Manager HEIN BAKERY; Frank Mestdagh, Founder of "MAGASIN D'ICI"; Patrick Schliffers, President of FEBEV and CEO of GHL GROUP; Georges Vanelderen, Buyer consultant for "Rob, the Gourmets Market".
My 20 / CENT over the launch
Food is indeed an art and craft products in recent years are another trend. The fact that consumers are not only searching for new experiences but also for more authenticity, confirm that this fair’s theme is well chosen.
Now it is an event that reminds me of others such as Tavola, with elements of other specialized trade fairs (Broodway ...). Often these trade fairs do not take place on an annual basis. Also this exhibition will be held in Namur. It's good to see an initiative in Wallonia. But because of the location I expect the event to remain "local" for Wallonia and Brussels. But to make a prediction about the future of the event is too early.
More information will certainly be available with the further development of the concept. So I'm definitely coming back on this.
