Let’s make a toast to celebrate 25 years of ProWein
First in 1994
The first edition of ProWein took place in 1994. Now in its 25th year, ProWein has become one of the leading trade fairs for the international wine and spirits industry. The show takes place yearly in Düsseldorf and is again expecting a large number of participants. To give you an idea, in 2018 the show featured 6,378 exhibitors from 67 countries. This trade fair offers to its visitors the following categories: Wines (according to cultivable areas), Sparkling wines, Spirits, Mineral water, Accessories for marketing in retail shops and gastronomy, IT for retail and gastronomy, Trade Literature, Services.
For the visitors make sure you don’t miss out on the following items that the show offers:
- Fizz Lounge: this year, Sustainability is the main theme at this area dedicated to the mixologists and cocktail makers.
- Champagne Lounge: a lounge where you only will find champagne obviously, but very well designed as I recall form my last visit
- Same but different: a special forum for producers of craft beers, craft spirits and ciders
- ProWein Forum: seminars and conferences on the current themes of the industry
Of course there will be more but these are my pick for this year.
Since I have started working I always heard that ProWein was the international trade show for the wine and spirits industry. However I never managed to go until last year as you know (the agenda always clashed with personal trips or missed opportunities). But I was happy to go for the first time in 2018 and discover that ProWein is indeed a ‘not to miss event’. There is enough for anybody, all the wine regions are represented, including China who clearly is on the rise in the wine industry.
So obviously I am going back this year and am keen to discover the latest of what the wine and spirits industry has to offer.
