Quick overview of Ready to eat, Take Away food and Snacking in Europe

Despite some improvement in the economic indicators of several countries the market of Ready to eat, Take Away food and Snacking has not yet regained its dynamics. Indeed, the use of fast food outlets in the 5 major European countries (France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain) knew a decline of 1,8% (2013 vs 2012). (Source NPD Group).

With its vast fast food segment, the United Kingdom presents the same attendance rates as in 2012. Further, the crisis impacted France and Germany with both countries sustaining declines of 1,4% and 1,6% respectively in the period 2012-2013. Italy saw fast food decline by 2,6% in the same period. Finally, in Spain, where low-cost menus are popular, the market fall in use was of 3,2%.
